The Roxbury International Film Festival kicked off it’s 15th Year at the Museum of Fine Arts for a screening of Things Never Said starring two Boston-area natives, Michael Beach and Elimu Nelson. Festival organizer and Color of Film Collaborative director Lisa Simmons started off the program by presenting Michael Beach with an Independent Spirit award sanctioned by Governor Deval Patrick for his work in independent filmmaking. She gave a short speech about what it means to have been with this project since its inception and how she hopes the MFA will eventually take the festival over – hmmm.

After the screening Beach and Nelson were on hand to answer the audience questions and take photos with fans. The celebration continued at the Skywalk in the Prudential Center where invited guests got even more up close and personal with the actors and their families over beverages and bites.

When we were kicked out of the Skywalk (the event was scheduled until 12am) some revelers kept the party going by heading to the Sheraton hotel bar, more of a festival vibe than previous years.

The festival continues through Sunday with daytime events as well as screenings. Click here for the complete list.
